When life is limited, we make cherished moments of joy possible.

It’s not something we often think about — how we’d like to spend our last days. When the end of life draws near, we believe everyone deserves to create meaningful, lasting memories with their loved ones. For Queenslanders living with a life-limiting condition, we provide the planning, coordination, specialist transport, and clinical care needed to help fulfil their last wishes — so they and their families can create lasting memories and celebrate a life well lived.

Wishes are often simple, but their impact is significant.

Steven “Fred’s” wish was to attend the Gatton Races

Former horse owner, breeder and trainer for over 30 years, Steven (lovingly known as “Fred”), wished for a day out at the races with his family and friends. He was joined by his wife Carol, sons Daniel and Jake, close family friends and stable mates to enjoy a day watching horses thunder down the track.

Valma’s wish was to return to her childhood home

To return to her childhood home that had been in the family for over 5 generations, was what Valma had been wishing for the most. Sitting out on her favourite spot on the property, reliving fond memories spanning over decades, Valma was joined by her two granddaughters, Jasmine and Candice.

Malcolm’s wish was to have a picnic at Kirra Beach

Malcolm’s wish was to have a picnic at Kirra Beach, famous as one of the Gold Coast’s most iconic surfing spots and a place where he and his family had holidayed often. Joined by his wife Susan, children Brenden and Corrine, daughter-in-law Dom and grandson Carter, Malcolm was able to reminisce over his younger days as a Surf Lifesaver.

Have a chat with your Specialist Palliative Care service or provider about your wish request and ask them to get in contact with us.

Step 3

We’ll start the planning

If your Wish can go ahead, we’ll assemble the right team, equipment and support to bring it to life.

Step 4

Your wish team gets to work

Your dedicated wish team will meet with you, your loved ones and your care team, visit the location, and make sure everything is thoughtfully arranged for your special day.

Your wish is delivered with care

Your wish team support you with care and compassion to make your wish day meaningful and memorable.

As a Paramedic, I am trained to respond quickly in high pressure situations, focusing on physical treatment. However, I have seen firsthand on countless occasions that often the best treatment I could provide was simply through offering comfort, reassurance and being present. Volunteering with Ambulance Wish Queensland allows me to slow down and connect with patients and their families in a different, but equally important way.

We feel so incredibly honoured to have been part of the Ambulance Wish program.

It was such a lovely day. Seeing our girls faces light up when they got their own little paramedic teddy bears and got to explore the inside of the ambulance is something They will never forget. They haven’t stopped talking about it all afternoon, even asking if we can go back again soon.

More than anything, it was just so nice to be together as a family, to simply go out and have fun without the weight of worry hanging over us.

We are so deeply grateful to everyone who made this wish come true. We will never forget this experience, and we want to say a huge thank you to Sarah(Palliative care), the paramedics(Ambulance Wish) for giving us a day we will cherish forever.

It is so deeply and profoundly appreciated that words just fail to truly express how I feel.

I am already in awe of the wonderful work by Paramedics, but the generosity of spirit shown by staff to donate their time to accommodate our request, excels them into a “super-hero” class that I will forever be grateful and earns my highest respect.

We had an amazing time at Australia zoo it was amazing to be able to get those lasting last memories with mum/Nana we are forever grateful for the experience and the volunteer paramedics were absolutely lovely!
